What causes thinning of the hair?
In women this can be part of female pattern baldness as this usually leads to all over thinning rather than the receding hairline and central head baldness seen in med.
In both men and women it may be caused by telogen effluvium (TE). This is caused by a greater than usual number of hair follicles entering the resting(telogen) phase of hair growth.
